Christopher Powell
1st May 2022Sadly, we have heard of the death in March 2022 of Mr Chris R Powell, who lived in Birchington, Kent. He became a member of our Association in 1987 and was a long-serving member. He taught at various schools in Germany; Berlin from 1962-65, then Monchegladback until 72, followed by 6 years in Cologne and lastly teaching at Hildesheim from 1979 to 1986. He returned to the UK, and lived in Berkshire and then Kent with his wife, Valerie.
Don Kay
8th March 2022Don Kay died at the beginning of March aged 96 years. Don and his wife Jean had been a member of the Association since 1994. He taught at Bourne School, Malaya between 1954-57 and then at Queen's School, Rheindahlen between 1960-72. They had been married for 74years when Jean died last August aged 95 years.
Jean Allen (née Cotterell) taught at BFES Cologne from 1954 to 1958 and lived in the Mess in the Volkspark.
A member since 1981, George Andrew, died peacefully in his sleep on February 8th 2022, aged 90 years. George was comfortable and happy in St Monica's Trust in Bristol, in the same city as his daughter Christine; Mark, his son, visited him regularly from Australia.
Martin Andrews
25th December 2017Martin taught Maths at King’s School Gutersloh in the 1970s and 1980s. He is survived by his wife Janice who arrived at King’s at about the same time to teach Biology.
