Gareth Morgan reports: Cliff Jones died early October just a few days short of his 91st birthday. A Bangor North Wales boy, he taught in Australia after his first wife sadly died and then after travelling throughout the continent, joined BFES to teach at Lemgo. He was appointed Deputy headteacher of Geilenkirchen School (around 1970) when Tony Stables was headteacher there.
FRENCH, Paul Lt Col MBE (Rtd) died at home aged 87 on May 1st 2025. Paul was a regular contributor to the Bulletin and Journal, promoting the King Alfred School in Plön, where he and his two brothers went to school in the 1940s. He was an active member and Chair for 11 years of the KAS Wyvern Association and did much to preserve the history of the school and promote his belief in a strong physical and mental education.
John Welshman
2016John Welshman was the Head of Drama at King's School Gutersloh in the 1970s and who then went on to become Head of English at The Havel School, Berlin. John sadly died in a Care Home in Hoylake after a long period of declining health.
Jill Westwood
January 2024After a short illness, Jill Westwood (née Derbyshire) passed away in January. She served as a teacher from 1975-1980, first at Dusseldorf First School, and then at Talavera School in Werl.
Richard was literally a larger than life character, taught in Dortmund and Hannover before being appointed Head of The Heide School, Fallingbostel in the 1980s.
John Williams who initially joined SCEA as a Biology teacher in St George's School, Hong Kong in the 1960s.
The Committee much regrets having to announce the death, from COVID, of Honorary Member Margaret Williams.

Pat Williams died in May 2023, aged 87. Pat taught at Cheshire Middle School, Bruggen, in the 1980s. Her funeral was held on Friday 9th June in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
Peter Winckles

Margaret Wishart
January 2024Margaret Wishart taught in both Malta and Hong Kong and died in January 2024.
