25th March 2026We have heard from Ken Jones that Jim Rhodes sadly passed away after a short illness on 25th March, aged 86 years.
29th January 2026John Henry Hall died on 29th January 2026. He joined BFES in 1967 and was teacher and head in the far East and Germany.
Sadie Smith
March 2024The nephew of Sadie Smith (née West) has contacted us to say that Sadie sadly passed away. Sadie had been a member of the Association since 1981 and taught in Dortmund (1958-1960) and then Bruggen (1960-1962).
Lorraine Stark
26th December 2017Lorraine Stark (nee Mattey) taught for 3 years in Malta, 1972-1975 and then went on to teach in Krefeld First School.
She married Roy Stark in 1974. Lorraine died in Australia.- 10th October 2014
Alison Stephenson (née Guest) sadly died on 10th October 2014 after a short battle against cancer.
Annette Stringer
September 10th 2019Annette Stringer passed away on September 10th 2019 in the James Paget Hospital after a long illness. Annette taught in York School Münster from 1974 to 1979. A memorial Service at St Marks Church, Oulton Broad was held on October 21st.
Jean Sudron
2nd December 2024Jean Sudron’s daughter announced Jean’s passing on the 2nd December after a battle with cancer. Jean taught at AFCENT between 1969-76, Marlborough School in Osnabruck between 1977-79, St David’s/St Andrews School JHQ from 1980-91 and then Bishop’s Park School, Paderborn between 1992-1996.
Jean's husband, Alan, died in 2010. Alan also taught in the same locations as Jean,
