Notes

The original Fleming School was in Wentworth Barracks directly opposite Lister School sharing the same hall and playground.
Following a HMI inspection, this school closed and a new school in Enger was opened on 27th March 1974 and took the name Fleming......the only BFES/SCE building that was owned by the Agency … everything else was rented.
Fleming closed in 1996 when it was merged into Lister School, Herford, along with Bünde Primary School.

From 1984 it was also the location of the Professional Development Centre (PDC) which moved from the Heide School in Fallingbostel.

The school was built for around 600 pupils but by 1984 there were less than 200 on roll. The free space enabled the PDC to move here.

At that time most of the pupils came from 127 ORs (Other Ranks) quarters immediately opposite the school.

By 1984 Tom Nielsen-Marsh (PDC Manager) doesn't recall pupils being bussed into Fleming.
