The school was previously known as BFES Herford with the name changing to Lister at some point.
Directly opposite and sharing Lister’s playground and dining hall was the original Fleming School.
Both schools were Primary.
Following a HMI inspection, Fleming School closed in Wentworth Barracks and the name was moved to a new build in Enger.
Lister School continued as the only school in the barracks.

"I was back at Lister in December. It is now a nurse training centre but the school hall (which used to be shared with Fleming) has now been pulled down.
A plaque commemorating Lister School has been placed at the entrance which is a nice touch".
