Obituary: Jan Gwinnel

Janet Gwinnell (1948-2022) died at the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, Farmham on Tuesday 29th November aged 74 years following a short illness.  Jan taught at Victoria School, Dortmund between 1973 and 1977 and made many long-term close friends during this time and was a well-respected and valued teacher. As a testament to her friendship and character, a close friend wrote on Jan’s obituary site, “Some people you meet and remember for moments; some you meet and remember for years. Others are special…you meet and remember for your life time. Jan is one of those. I met her at teacher training college and in recent years we met again. She was happy, funny and somehow always saw the good in people.”

She became a member of the Association in 2001 and will be sadly missed by friends and colleagues.
