Notes

Location not yet known........the pin simply points to the NATO airbase.

In 1957 it had 159 pupils ages 5 -15 years old.

The RAF handed the base over to the Luftwaffe in 1968.

In 1980, the station became NATO Air Base Geilenkirchen, the main operating base for NATO's Airborne Early Warning and Control force.

From 1980 until closure in 2012 the NATO base had a US Department of Defense Dependent School (DoDDS).

Steve Robinson:
"I went to Geilenkirchen Primary 1977-1980 and Mr Tony Stables was the head. The picture above shows Mr Stables and Mr Brian Kite taken about 1977".

Chris Robinson:
"My son went to the school at Geilenkircheh from the spring of 1977 until we left in July of 1980. The head was Tony Stables, a Yorkshireman, who was an inspiration to all who met him. His wife was one of the teachers and Alan Moore was the deputy.
Of course 1977 was Jubilee year and Tony Stables was the driving force for the celebrations and organised many events, not just for the Jubilee but the whole of my time there"
