Friday 20 September, 2024
Friday 20th September 2024 at the National Memorial Arboretum.
With grateful thanks to event co-ordinators, Janet & Bill Bowen, we are delighted that our 2024 AGM and AGM-lunch will take place at the National Memorial Arboretum on Friday, 20th September.
The National Memorial Arboretum, near Alrewas in South Staffordshire, will be known to many members. It comprises a growing collection of memorials, miitary and civilian, united by the theme of 'service'. Members will find much of interest to explore. Tucked away in a far corner of the 'Children's Wood' is Ark School (JHQ) 's 2013 installation entitled 'Posted!'. This was created on the school playground by the school & JHQ community and involved design and workmanship by Ark's primary school children. The brief description on this small memorial references the dozens of UK service schools that existed in post-war Germany and the thousands of families for whom these schools provided a focal point between postings.
