Gareth Morgan reports: Cliff Jones died early October just a few days short of his 91st birthday. A Bangor North Wales boy, he taught in Australia after his first wife sadly died and then after travelling throughout the continent, joined BFES to teach at Lemgo. He was appointed Deputy headteacher of Geilenkirchen School (around 1970) when Tony Stables was headteacher there.
Cliff Jones died in early October just a few days short of his 91st birthday. Together they did much to improve the quality of handwriting in classrooms throughout Germany by giving numerous in service sessions focusing on the Ruth Fagg style. I attended one of these sessions and it changed the way I taught children and improved my script as well! He left Geilenkirchen in 1976 to a headship in Gloucestershire and later a headship in The Forest of Dean.
He finally retired to Aston Ingham in Herefordshire but spent most of his retirement travelling throughout the world. He preferred to organise his travels himself and with his trusty camera visited some unusual and isolated places.
Cliff was a linguist, speaking several languages which he picked up on his many journeys throughout the world. Cliff was a very sociable person who kept in close contact with friends in several countries.
