Recent information (from John Lord) tells us that the secondary schools were overcrowded and secondary age pupils at Wellington were retained on the roll of Wellington school but were taught in a separate building.
All in all it was not a great situation for the pupils and in the end it led to the establishment of the First/Middle setup which came into being in 1976.
