The school closed in 2011.

Location provided by Philip Arrandale.

The school was opened on Monday 4th September 1989 by HRH The Princess Royal..........initially called "Airport Camp Primary".
The Headteacher was Miss Sue Lannon.
Sue MacLean (née Lannon) recalls that...."We had asked to change the name but were given a categorical 'no' from the powers that be".

Toucan School in Belize.

The pupils and staff of Toucan school taken in 1998.

Toucan was a two teacher SCS located on Airport Camp adjacent to Philip W. S. Goldson Airport,  Belize's international airport, near the village of Ladyville.

The school opened in 1989 and, for the first 5 years, the staff changed on an annual basis. Two teachers from SCEA schools were seconded to the school for one year and lived in the Officers' Mess........one was the Head and one was a class teacher.

Philip Arrandale was a teaching headteacher and his wife Barbara was the KS1 class teacher.  They lived in a family MQ bungalow on the camp just behind the school.

The final headteacher was Phil Brown (whose wife, Diane, was also a KS1 teacher).

In 2006, the KS2 teacher was Fiona Brand who lived outside the camp.

Not all accomodation is 'born equal'.......the KS2 teacher's Belize house with private mooring for their powerboat.
