York Junior and Cambridge Infants were located next to each other.
The school buildings were demolished after the army left at the end of 1992.

John Lord remembers:
York School was a Junior school and was situated in the Loddenheide camp, a former Luftwaffe airfield during WW2.  There was also a York Barracks situated about a mile away.
The camp where the schools had been is now a light industrial/commercial zone.
Initially, the church was saved from demolition but I’m not sure if it’s still there.
It was very rewarding to have a fellow headteacher (in Cambridge School) a short walk away.
When things had got too much one or the other of us could stroll over and commiserate and let off steam!
